A person tries to get freedom from sins throughout his life, but only by fasting on this Ekadashi, all his sins are destroyed, the importance of which was told to Yudhishthir by Lord Krishna himself. Know the importance of this Ekadashi.

According to the legend, once upon a time, there lived a cruel hunter named Krodhan on Mount Vidyanchal. He spent his entire life in misdeeds like rioting, robbery, drinking, and lying. He became a sinner by committing many bad deeds and killing dumb animals. When his last moments came, he approached Angira Maharishi in fear of death. He fears that he has committed a lot of sins in his life and because of this he will go to hell after death. To atone for this sin he went to the sage.

Fasting on this Ekadashi also relieves serious sins: Sage Angira took pity on the hunter and told him the importance of Papankusha Ekadashi and asked him to observe this fast. He observes a fast on this Ekadashi and worships Lord Hari, as told to him by the sage. The fast absolved the hunter of all his sins and he got a place in Vaikuntha. By remembering the name of God and chanting his name on the day of Ekadashi, all sins are removed. The outcome of many yagyas is the way they are performed.
