Shammi Kapoor, known as the dancing star of Bollywood, celebrates her birthday today. On October 21, 1931, he was born. His personal life was just as exciting as his professional life. Beginning with his father, Prithvi Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor began his career. Then they would receive 50 rupees. With the release of the 1953 film Jeevan Jyoti, he began an acting career.
On the Rangi Raate set in 1955, Shammi Kapoor met Geeta Bali. She was well-known at the time for acting. As soon as Shammi saw Geeta Bali, he fell in love. They kept up their relationship for another four months before getting married in a temple. Shammi Kapoor completed the ritual by applying lipstick to Geeta Bali’s forehead in place of kunkwa because both of them were secretly married and he could not obtain kunkwa to get married in the temple. When they married, Shammi’s career was also not doing well.
He was very upset due to not getting commercial success. So he announced to his wife that if his film Tumsa Nahi Dekha failed, he would never act again. But in this challenging time, Geeta Bali encouraged him a lot. He thought that he would become a successful actor and his film would do well. It is interesting to know that Geeta Bali’s prediction came true and her film was successful.
In the following movies, Shammi Kapoor displayed his acting prowess, including “Dil Deke Dekho,” “Jangli,” “Kashmir Ki Kali,” and “Jamwar.” and did not look back. However, his wife Geeta Bali passed away in the interim. It appeared as though his life had ended. They suffered from depression. They had two young children as well. He was forced to marry Neela Devi as a result of his family’s request. However, he had made it clear that he would not permit them to have children once more after the second marriage. Neela Devi concurred and took it. Shammi Kapoor died on August 14, 2011.
